Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the cancellation of spring championships, Northeastern State Athletics is highlighting its spring senior class with a spotlight series featuring Q&A's with the student-athletes and a video from the head coach.
Wes was a two-year letterwinner for the RiverHawks and played in 61 total games. During the shortened 2020 season, he had a hit in 13 of the 14 final games of the season and reached base in all but one contest. As a junior, he was tied on the roster for the second-most games played and was named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
What has been your favorite moment as a student-athlete at Northeastern State?
- My favorite experience as a student athlete at NSU would be meeting a lot of my teammates that I will continue to be life long friends with.Â
What has been your most meaningful experience outside of athletics?
- My most meaningful experience outside of athletics would be hanging out with friends at the Hawks Nest.
Who was/is your favorite professor at Northeastern State, and why?
- My favorite professor at Northeastern State would be Katy Ellis. She is an excellent teacher that gives us the knowledge to be successful in our careers. She truly cares about our future.Â
Do you have plans for post-graduation yet? If so, what are they?
- Currently I have a safety tech job in the oil refining industry.Â
What advice would you give to younger athletes about their time at Northeastern State?
- My advice to the younger players is play every game like it's your last because, as I saw first hand, it really may be your last game without you knowing.Â
